Happiness According to Buddhism

According to Buddhism, “Happiness does not depend on what you have or who you are.” It just depends on what you think.

The Buddha believed that happiness begins with understanding the main causes of suffering. The Buddha describes an eight-sutra way to help control the mind and ultimately lead to happiness.

However it is not a one time task. It must be followed in a daily manner. This idea teaches you not to worry about the past or the future and live in the present. The present is the only place where you can experience peace and happiness.

Buddha is described as “always smiling”. Buddha’s portrayals mostly depict him with a smile. This smile comes from deep within him.

Buddhism states that true happiness can be achieved by wisdom and practice by developing mental peace and by detaching it from one’s own needs, desires, and passions.
