Out of the 2 million doses of vaccines purchased by the government from the Serum Institute of India, 1 million doses have not arrived for eight months. The government had paid Rs 930 million for the purchase of 2 million vaccines last January.
Serum had sent only 1 million doses of vaccine on March 25. The second phase vaccine will be delivered within a year of the first phase vaccine, but the serum has not sent the vaccine yet. The Ministry of Health had paid in advance on February 5 for the purchase of the covsild vaccine produced by the Serum Institute of India, developed by Oxford AstraZeneca.
India has said it will vaccinate other countries against coronavirus by Kartik. India’s Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandabhiya has said that vaccinations will be sent abroad from October.
The Serum Institute of India has been producing vaccines against corona made by AstraZeneca and Oxford University in India. Vaccine exports were banned after the second wave of corona spread in India.
India has sent 66 million doses of the vaccine to more than 70 countries around the world. According to the Ministry of Health, more than 5.5 million people in Nepal have been fully vaccinated so far.
